We were delighted to welcome Clare Deacon, regional fundraiser for Yorkshire Air Ambulance, to a choir rehearsal where she was presented with a cheque for £4,145.
The money was raised over the last year at Stray Notes’ performances, including at St Mark’s Church and Valley Gardens in Harrogate; as well as Knaresborough Castle; Fountains Abbey; Newby Hall and the Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park, both near Ripon.
Clare explained that Yorkshire Air Ambulance relies on donations to keep the helicopters flying and saving lives, attending on average, 4-5 incidents each day, 365 days a year.
She said: “Thank you to The Stray Notes for arranging such a wonderful year of events. Not only have you raised funds but have raised awareness of the charity too.”
The choir’s charity coordinator, Heather Jones, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised this year to support the vital work of Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Our audiences are always so generous through donations or raffles at our concerts. And a big thank you goes to choir members Linda Crozier and Nicky Whittaker for all their hard work in creating such beautiful hampers to raffle!”
