When the Stray Notes joined together with the Formby-based G-Force Gospel Choir and the children of Killinghall School Choir, it was a day of singing together, mastering new skills, and sometimes being out of our comfort zones!
The day started with the amazing Abi Moore leading the Stray Notes and G-Force in an acapella workshop. Abi, a musical director and choir leader who specialises in unaccompanied pop and rock singing, spent the morning teaching us the basics of acapella, finishing with a performance of The Housemartin’s hit Caravan of Love. By the end of the session, we were all looking forward to including some acapella in future performances.
In the afternoon, the children of Killinghall School Choir, joined us at St Mark’s Church, Harrogate, for a joint concert. After each of the choirs had performed their own set, all three took to the stage together for the finale, singing Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten, followed by the uplifting Glorious and finishing with a rousing version of Don’t Stop Believing – complete with an air guitar interlude.
A big thank you to our audience for supporting our air guitar playing by joining in!
