Choir raises funds for mental health charity

Thanks to the generosity of our audiences, The Stray Notes choir has raised £2000 for Wellspring, a mental health charity in Harrogate offering therapy, training and education.

Wellspring was our chosen charity last year and our very own Jo, who was the choir’s charity coordinator at the time, presented the £2000 cheque to Wellspring’s head of fundraising, Kennie Cheung, during one of our rehearsals.

Kennie told the choir that the Starbeck-based charity would use the funds to continue its work offering mental health support to adults and young people, as well as training to counsellors and psychotherapists, and promoting good mental health through education.

This year we are fundraising for Frank’s Fund, which was set up by the Ashton family of Harrogate in memory of their 14-year-old son, to raise money for bone cancer research. Please give generously when you see the charity’s distinctive bright orange buckets at our performances.
